Ibero-American Literature Prize 2019

In Psychedelic Literature, our main objective is to demystify Entheogens and offer a way to reconnect with the spirit through cosmic stories. Hindu texts describe that enlightenment can be achieved through 5 ways, one of them is Power Plants. Author Aldous Huxley lists 8 ways:

1. Meditation

2. Entheogens

3. Contemplation of mandalas or Sacred Geometry

4. High vibration music

5. Fireworks and jewelry

6. Mortifications and fasts

7. Darkness (sensory deprivation)

8. Art in all its aspects.

We add a ninth way: reading VISIONARY books like the ones we offer, by psychedelic authors whose lyrics run through poetry, philosophy, novels and stories.

Psychedelic Literature is not a new genre: it had previously been a topic explored by authors such as Aldous Huxley, the father of LSD-25: Albert Hofmann, Timothy Leary, Terence McKenna and, of course, the anthropologist Carlos Castaneda. However, the way to approach it has almost always been through essays with a medical, psychological or chemical approach, sometimes delved into poetry (such as that of Octavio Paz).

Is it until the moment of naming that the "thing in itself" exists or does it exist beyond the word? This semiotic question was raised at the International Book Fair during the presentation of Infinito PSYTRANCE, a work that at the FIL Zócalo 2019 was declared as part of the VISIONARY genre, which may not be new (since it also already exists in painting), but it is the first time it has been taxonomized in the literature.

Readers say: "it makes you feel as if you were consuming a substance" or "it helps you reach elevated states of consciousness" just by reading. For this quality, at the Mexico City International Book Fair we were declared part of a new literary genre: VISIONARY.
